Bait Ur Rouf Mosque

Marina Tabassum has been awarded the 2021 Soane Medal. This prestigious award is awarded annually by Sir John Soane’s Museum London to an architect, educator and/or critic who has made a major contribution to their field through practice, history or theory, and in doing so has furthered and enriched the public understanding of architecture.

We are pleased to see this award go to Marina Tabassum, the Bangladeshi architect perhaps most well-known for the Bait Ur Rouf Mosque in Dhaka, which won the Aga Khan Award for architecture in 2016.

Look out for our forthcoming publication with her, which will be the first monography of her work, detailing her architectural journey from it’s early beginnings and revealing the passion and inspirations behind her socially-conscious buildings
